What is Title I?
Title I is a federally-funded program aimed toward high-risk students who do not have learning disabilities but who, for whatever reasons (chronic absences, frequent moves from school to school, etc.) are performing below grade level.
Central City School is a Schoolwide Title Program school. A school may operate a Schoolwide program if 40 percent of the students participate in the free/reduced lunch program. A Schoolwide program permits a school to use funds under Part A of Title 1 and other federal education program funds and resources to upgrade the entire educational program of the school and to raise academic achievement for all the students. Schoolwide programs do not have to identify children as eligible for services.
