Important Message!!
It is the LAST WEEK to complete the Parent 5E survey!!! The survey will close Friday, March 13. If you have not completed the survey, we ask that you take roughly 10 minutes of your time to complete the survey.
Here are some reasons to complete the survey:
1. Your voice helps improve the school. The survey gives parents an opportunity to share honest feedback about what the school is doing well and where improvements are needed.
2. It supports student success. Research shows schools with strong scores in the 5Essentials areas tend to have better student outcomes, including higher academic growth.
3. It helps us qualify for the “Organizational Health” rating. Parent participation affects whether the school receives a reportable score, which becomes part of the public school report card.
Currently, we are at 35% parent completion. We hope to reach 40% and 10 minutes of extra recess for all students this week!
We will celebrate reaching 30% completion with a pajama day this Monday, March 9th.

This also means we are SO CLOSE to our next goal of 30% and a school-wide PAJAMA DAY! Let's keep that percent climbing!
Please use this link to complete the survey if you have not done so already. Thank you again for your support! https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/login/

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is a statewide assessment that measures students’ academic progress in reading and math. It is important for students to take the exam seriously and to do their best, as the results are used to inform instruction and help schools identify areas where students may need additional support. This is also the measure that is utilized for our Illinois State Report Card.
Students in 3rd through 8th grade will be taking the exam starting on Monday, March 23, 2026 through Friday, March 27, 2026. Please avoid absence or scheduling any appointments that require absence if at all possible during this time. If any students are unable to take the exam during the scheduled testing window, make-up exams will be offered during the week of March 30, 2026.
The following strategies will best support your child during the exam:
1. Encourage a regular sleep schedule: Make sure your child is getting enough sleep, especially the night before the test. It can be helpful to establish a regular bedtime routine in the days leading up to the assessment to ensure they are well-rested and alert. Make sure that your child arrives on time.
2. Provide a healthy breakfast: Eating a nutritious breakfast can help fuel your child’s brain and provide them with the energy they need to focus during the test. Be sure students are on time to eat breakfast at school.
3. Promote a positive attitude: Encourage your child to do their best, but also remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes. A positive attitude can help your child feel more confident and perform better on the assessment.
4. Provide support and encouragement: Make sure your child knows that you are there to support them and encourage them throughout the testing period. Celebrate their efforts and progress, regardless of the outcome of the assessment.
5. Headphones: Make sure your child has headphones with them the day of testing so that they will be able to utilize these during portions of the test. The school will provide extra headphones if needed.
Thank you for your help in ensuring your student’s success for the IAR. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.
Respectfully,
Haylee Helm, Principal

We are looking forward to celebrating Read Across America Week!
