Thank you, parents! We have reached our first goal of 20% parent completion of the 5E Survey, and are currently at 27%! This means we will have a school-wide HAT DAY next Tuesday, February 24th.

This also means we are SO CLOSE to our next goal of 30% and a school-wide PAJAMA DAY! Let's keep that percent climbing!

Please use this link to complete the survey if you have not done so already. Thank you again for your support! https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/login/

Dear Parent or Guardian,

The Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) is a statewide assessment that measures students’ academic progress in reading and math. It is important for students to take the exam seriously and to do their best, as the results are used to inform instruction and help schools identify areas where students may need additional support. This is also the measure that is utilized for our Illinois State Report Card.

Students in 3rd through 8th grade will be taking the exam starting on Monday, March 23, 2026 through Friday, March 27, 2026. Please avoid absence or scheduling any appointments that require absence if at all possible during this time. If any students are unable to take the exam during the scheduled testing window, make-up exams will be offered during the week of March 30, 2026.

The following strategies will best support your child during the exam:

1. Encourage a regular sleep schedule: Make sure your child is getting enough sleep, especially the night before the test. It can be helpful to establish a regular bedtime routine in the days leading up to the assessment to ensure they are well-rested and alert. Make sure that your child arrives on time.
2. Provide a healthy breakfast: Eating a nutritious breakfast can help fuel your child’s brain and provide them with the energy they need to focus during the test. Be sure students are on time to eat breakfast at school.
3. Promote a positive attitude: Encourage your child to do their best, but also remind them that it’s okay to make mistakes. A positive attitude can help your child feel more confident and perform better on the assessment.
4. Provide support and encouragement: Make sure your child knows that you are there to support them and encourage them throughout the testing period. Celebrate their efforts and progress, regardless of the outcome of the assessment.
5. Headphones: Make sure your child has headphones with them the day of testing so that they will be able to utilize these during portions of the test. The school will provide extra headphones if needed.

Thank you for your help in ensuring your student’s success for the IAR. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the school.

Respectfully,

Haylee Helm, Principal
